Waterfall

This was another small waterfall I photographed on my recent trip to the Old Mill. Zooming in with my 100-400mm lens, I eliminated everything from the frame but the waterfall. This allowed me to emphasize the small cascade while also removing anything that would give a sense of scale. Looking at this picture, it is difficult to tell just how tall the waterfall is.  Is it twenty feet high or twenty inches? The close framing provides a sense of mystery. In reality, this waterfall was in the neighborhood of about two feet tall. By zooming in and filling the frame makes it looks like it could much bigger than it really was, which is, I think, an interesting perspective. My settings were 188mm, 5 sec, f/36, 100 ISO.
