Abstract Reflection

Toward the end of my trip to the Old Mill, the sun had come up and was creating some very contrasty lighting situations. As a I was deciding to pack up my equipment and call it a day, I happened to notice the reflections of the surrounding trees in the small ponds around the mill. What really caught my attention, though, was how the small ripples in the water were creating very abstract reflections. I set my tripod and camera back up and, using my 100-400mm lens, began photographing the reflections. My main consideration was shutter speed. Too slow and the rippled reflection would be too blurred. Too fast of a speed and the reflection would be far too sharp. I experimented with several different shutter speeds before I finally choosing a speed 1/25 second. This shutter speed combined with f/32 aperture I used to ensure complete sharpness required an ISO of 6400. This created a fair amount of digital noise in the image that I was able to eliminate in Lightroom.
